Puk (3-1) gave the Cubs their first lead. The next batter, pinch-hitter Miguel Amaya, followed with an RBI single of his own. MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — Sergio Perez will start from the pole at the Miami Grand Prix, where he has been given clearance to race for both the win and the championship. Perez trails Red Bull teammate Max Verstappen by just six points in the championship standings and team boss Christian Horner vowed in Miami to allow the drivers to race for the title. Verstappen, the two-time reigning F1 champion, and Perez each have two wins this year as Red Bull has swept all four races and finished 1-2 three times. The pole for Perez was the third of his career, but the other two were on the street circuit at Jeddah. Perez won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix and will try to make it two straight Sunday. “Checo! Checo! Checo!” the crowd chanted for Perez while waving Mexican flags. He said the Saturday qualifying effort was a massive turnaround after he had struggled through all three practice sessions. “Everything came more alive and we were just playing with the tools and we put the lap in that we nee...Lens defeats Marseille in fight for runner-up spot

PARIS (AP) — Lens was too solid and too clinical for Marseille in their showdown for the runner-up spot in the French league on Saturday.Lens, the team with the best home record this season, defeated the best side on the road 2-1 to leapfrog Marseille into the second spot and put pressure on stumbling leader Paris Saint-Germain.Goals from Seko Fofana and Lois Openda gave Lens a 15th home win and moved it two points above Marseille, and just three behind PSG. The league leader travels to Troyes on Sunday.“Frankly, it was an exceptional match, we knew it was a match to move past Marseille again,” Openda said after taking his league tally to 19 goals. “We showed what we wanted to achieve in this league. We have four matches left to play, they will be crucial.” In a buoyant atmosphere at the packed Stade Delelis-Bollaert, Marseille had the upper hand for long spells and imposed its trademark high press to unbalance the host. NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — With his team down 2-0 again, New Jersey Devils coach Lindy Ruff is shaking things up in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference semifinals against the Carolina Hurricanes.Goaltender Vitek Vanecek probably will return to the starting lineup Sunday afternoon for the first time since being replaced by Akira Schmid after losing the first two games of the first-round series against the rival New York Rangers. That’s just one move. The real surprise is the insertion of 19-year-old defenseman Luke Hughes into a lineup that is led by his 21-year-old brother and budding superstar, Jack.Luke Hughes is going to replace defenseman Ryan Graves, who sustained an upper body injury in Game 2 on Friday night.“If I get the opportunity I am very prepared and very ready,” Luke Hughes said after staying late after practice ended to work Saturday with the power-play unit.If he had been told he was playing, he didn’t let anyone know.Ruff, who usually does not disclose lineup chang...Eloy Jiménez of White Sox hospitalized with abdominal pain

He went 3 for 5 with a homer and three RBIs on Thursday. “Any time you have to go in with abdominal pain, it is scary,” Grifol said. “I talked to him this morning, and he said it hurt when he moves. It intensified a little bit, so we’re erring on the side of caution to see what it is.” The White Sox (11-22) have won four of their last five games after a poor April.
